Alice Burton, Creative at RKCR/Y&R walks through how she landed a job in advertising as a creative.

Advertising creative Alice Burton from RKCR/Y&R presents to students at Winchester School of Art the place she graduated from a few years ago. 

In the talk Alice shares her story, from leaving Winchester to studying advertising at Watford Ad School to landing her first job at Fallon the agency behind Cadbury’s Gorilla. 

Amongst advice around what an advertising creative does each day, Alice lists the following areas every student should focus on to become a creative:

  • Importance of learning advertising 
  • Finding a creative partner
  • Putting together a portfolio
  • Going on book crits
  • Getting a placement 
  • And becoming a real creative team
