FutureRising headed to University College London offering the students a chance to meet and learn from creative industry professionals. They were able to pick up career advice and potentially land job opportunities. We invited PR and communications company Lexis and Quill specialists in branded content.
We began with talks from our industry guests before setting a creative challenge for everyone to get stuck into. The groups then presented their ideas and got feedback from the pros, with a prize for the winning group!
Dominic Shales, Managing Director, Lexis
Dominic is Managing Director of Lexis, a communications agency specialising in consumer and corporate PR, Digital & Social, Experiential and Design & Production. Dominic started his career working on consumer accounts in the media, sport and automotive sectors at KBH Communications (subsequently acquired by Bell Pottinger Good Relations).
Rebecca Ward, Account Manager, Lexis
Rebecca joined the Lexis team on the 2012 graduate scheme fresh from studying Keats and Yeats at the University of Sheffield. Over the last two and half years she has helped develop digital strategies for brands, such as Ecover and Diet Coke, and has liaised with Great British Bake Off contestants to promote Tefal on social media. Part of her work has also seen her attend government events on international development, and use the power of Twitter to gain a speaking slot for one of her clients at the World Food Prize 2014 event.
Philip Smith, Content Director, Quill
Philip oversees the production and delivery of digital content to Quill’s clients, which include Shop Direct, LA Fitness, STA Travel, WPP, Aegis and Publicis. Prior to joining Quill in January 2015, Smith spent 15 years working for Haymarket Media Group in senior editorial and content positions, including editor of Media Week and head of digital content at marketing portal, Brand Republic. He started his career as a music journalist and has worked for the publishers Emap and Reed Business Information.
Kathryn Gilbert, Editorial Manager, Quill
Kathryn is an Editorial Manager at Quill, responsible for accounts including Shop Direct, The Money Cloud, Rockpool Investments and LA fitness. She has worked on content strategy, overseen visual content production and edited across a wide range of clients, from fashion to finance. Prior to joining Quill, Kathryn was Editorial Assistant at Metro International and ModMods.com. She also created Industry, Oxford University's fashion magazine, and was Deputy Editor of The Oxford Student.
