We headed back to Middlesex University to help the students kickstart theirs careers in the creative industries. Along with the FutureRising crew, we'll brought along with us:
David Adamson, Planner, Fallon London
David started his career as a strategist at digital agency Start JudgeGill. After a short stint at Miami Ad School, he's found a new home at Fallon working on brands like Cadbury, giffgaff and Mikado. Fallon has created some of the most iconic advertising of our generation, including Cadbury Gorilla, Skoda Cake andSony Balls and continues to push the boundaries of creativity with work like “Different Takes Guts” for Giffgaff.
Sam Hollis, Senior Brand Strategist, BrandPie
Sam is a creative strategist and heads up new business activity as part of Brandpie’s management team. He’s evangelical about purpose-driven organisations winning the war for social relevance, and how to align purpose with commercial ambition. Naturally curious and a strategic thinker, Sam is an advocate of disrupting traditional approaches and mobilising people around a common cause. He has a habit of collecting and reciting brand myths (some true).
Philip Smith, Content Director, Quill
Philip oversees the production and delivery of digital content to Quill’s clients, which include Shop Direct, LA Fitness, STA Travel, WPP, Aegis and Publicis. Prior to joining Quill in January 2015, Smith spent 15 years working for Haymarket Media Group in senior editorial and content positions, including editor of Media Week and head of digital content at marketing portal, Brand Republic. He started his career as a music journalist and has worked for the publishers Emap and Reed Business Information.
Rivkah Brown, Network Engagement Manager, Quill
Rivkah joined Quill as an intern after finishing her English degree at Cambridge, where she edited for student newspapers Varsity and The Tab. Now Network Engagement Manager, she is responsible for organising an exciting calendar of events for Quill's Network of creative freelancers, recommending creatives for briefs, and engaging the Network via social media. With internship experience at The Times, Leo Burnett and McCann, her role at Quill combines her love of media and advertising.
After the talks we set up a creative challenge for the students to have the opportunity to impress our industry professionals.
